Any clue what this might be?

Received pics from an overseas soldier, wondering what his silver coin is. He says he bought it a few days ago at a local flea market in Kosovo. Looks to be about the size of a half dollar.

It's a modern fantasy, not a coin. I've seen many of these offered recently.

    Dan,

That is not a real coin, but merely a mismatched replica of some type. The back looks like a US gold dollar, which would be much smaller (and obviously, would be made out of gold) and the front is similar to an Indian cent, but without the date. No real numismatic value.

    Thanks all!

I was thinking just about what Mark said, but I just wanted to get some more opinions before I answered back to the soldier.

    Thanks for the help!

I've been asked about those many times. It is basicly a 1 oz silver round. So far every one that has been reported to me has been described as being made of silver with a weight of one troy oz. And in most cases they have been purchased from bullion dealers. Usually in the middle east. The problem is they are not marked with the fineness so they are probaby not .999 and they are short on silver.
