Is anyone familiar with 2 cent pieces?....

I recently purchased 2 2 cent pieces at ebay, 1 in a NGC-64 and 1 in a PCGS-64 holder both RB. On the 1864 Lg. Motto(NGC) The 'O' in Of has a tail that protrudes outward at 9:00 from the 'O" yet the 1865 doesn't. It's clearly visible. What's up with that?...

What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

Placid; It's not a die crack. It's like, imagine this, a carpenters square or inverted 'L' running from 9:00 to 12:00. It's a raised protrusion. This is about all I can say to describe it. It appears to have been part of the die engraving with the 'O'...strange but true!...
Excellent for 2 cent peices and the price is right.

razorface1027,
It could be a die clash. There are quite a number of them on the Two Cent pieces. Could also be, as Placid said, a die crack. These coins have zillions with die cracks. Matter of fact, it's kind of hard to find circulation strikes without them.
Here's one with lots of die cracks:
I really like these coins, but I'm just on the very beginning of learning about them.

<< <i>to be a full attachment to the 'O' and RAISED, as if part of the 'O'...It's weird.. >>
Die cracks are raised. When there's a crack in the die, the metal flows in to it and creates a raised spot on the coin in the shape of the crack. Yours may simply be a crack adjacent to the O that happens to be about the same depth as the letter, thus appearing as if it is part of it. Could also be a clashed die.

Not really. Dramatic, well defined ones are, but everyday weak little ones can be found quite frequently.

Frank Leone had over 100 1864 die varieties with pictures on his site, but now I can't find them. Maybe someone else knows where they are.
It could be a die gouge as well.
