Willy Wonka & The Chocolate factory
fivecents

This movie is about an eccentric candy factory owner(played by Gene Wilder) who hides special golden tickets in about six of his chocolate bars. The lucky finders of these tickets win a tour of his factory and free candy for life. The US mint should follow suit and come up with the same idea. The US mint could randomly place a 90% gold Lincoln cent in about 6 of their proof sets. The lucky proof set owner would be the owner of a 90% gold proof lincoln cent at no extra charge over the proof set price. This could be done once a year for maybe five years starting of course in 2009. The total mintage would be only six gold lincoln cents per year. With a mintage of six, someone(very rich) might have a chance to buy the coins on the aftermarket and assemble a complete gold Lincoln set.

You been watching late nite TV again??
That movie is a classic.
I never thought my life could be
Anything but catastrophe
But suddenly I begin to see
A bit of good luck for me
'Cause I've got a golden Lincoln
I've got a golden twinkle in my eye....

darktone...That is cool.
trozau...Yes I have heard the same thing. Johnny Depp will be a great Willy Wonka.
The US mint has and will be producing modern rarities. Now granted a 90% gold Lincoln cent is kind of radical, but ending the design for the Lincoln cent is a major big deal. This might be a great way to commemorate the 100th anniversary in 2009. Maybe they could produce a copper proof 2009-S V.D.B cent with the memorial reverse. A total of six of these proof 2009-S V.D.B Lincoln cents could be 90% gold. The US mint could keep it a secret and let the gold Lincoln cents be "discovered" by the lucky collectors.
