"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

  • I sent the seller a little discouraging message. Basically, I told them something looked a Little rotten in Denmark on that auction!

Probably just another non-coin person confused about 1943 cents and their value.

Looks like it was over before it started. Will they quit doing it? Not as long as there are still idiots in the world, and unfortunately we haven't found a cure for it any more than we've found a cure for cancer.

  • You'd think that you could get at least a MS63 version for that kind of money!image
  • After seeing this auction, and wanting to send an email to the seller, I got to thinking. The last time I did send an email to a seller on a stupid auction such as this, I started getting spam email and spoof email from a fake eBay..The seller will get your email address from your question or complaint, from there, who knows who gets it from him...I would suggest that we not send the seller email, but complain to eBay instead.......Just my thoughts.... They MAY be doing this, knowing it won't sell, but will get acces to email address on ebay they can't get any other way...

I'd much rather have the cure for cancer - I can deal with the idiots in this world - the cancer is a lot tougher.

I did send an email. I gave the person a little history lesson on the 43 cent and stated that I'm sure he was unaware of his mistake and that I'm sure he wouldn't be trying to scam anyone.

As far as them having my email address, I would still have to repond to the scam emails for them to get any more info.

I received this reply from the seller tonight:

There is not scam. It was an error. Will you pay all that money for a cent?

  • I dont get it. If it was an error and they KNEW it then why didnt they yank it? Some people just perplex me.

I was thinking the same thing. It's still there waiting for a bid. I think I may just have to ask that question.

What the seller didn't say is that it is MS70!! Great condition on that coin. Looks like there's a fungus among us.

Scammers usually have a reasonable chance of getting the money they want. This guy can't be a real scammer because he would know that no one in their right mind would plunk down that kind of money for that numismatic marvel. Maybe he is trying to impress his girlfriend by showing her one of his coins he has up for auction.image
And I ain't lying this time.
  • Ask him how the error occured!
You can fool man but you can't fool God! He knows why you do what you do!
