Do You Care Who You Sell Your Coins To?

When you decide to sell some of the pieces in your collection from time to time, does it make any difference to you who you sell them to? In other words, would you prefer to sell them to another dedicated collector who will enjoy them and put them away, or to someone who just wants to try and resell it for a quick profit, or someone who buys it with the intention of immediatly resubmitting it in hopes of getting a bump and then resell it?

Or once you decide to sell, does it make absolutely no difference to you whatsoever who gets the coin or what happens to it afterwards?

Probably makes no difference. But if the buyer was a known dishonest coin doctor, I would hesitate.

I try not to sell AU original coins to doctors who will mess with them for the upgrade, but sell them to a collector who wants originality & quality and can enjoy the coin for what it is, not what it could be. If I feel the coin is undergraded, I will price it according to what I think the actual grade is, not what holder it's in. This tends to keep the crack-out artists away.

I tend to sell cheaper to a friend then to an unknowen.

If some one wants to by a higher priced coin from me,i ask why do you want it,if they give a good enough reason, they get it cheaper.

    I will say,i don't sell much.

If I can sell at my price, I'll take it from whomever has the cash. Of course, there are people with whom I'd rather deal (because they are stand-up guys) and I'll talk to them first.

When it comes time to sell the only thing that matters is the money.

The only care I have is selling a coin to a forum member if I do not like the coin myself. If I put it on Ebay and a member buys it then thats the way it goes. Tastes are different ...My Dog is someone elses Jewell.

Nope, I generally don't care who buys what I sell. So long as they pay.

I would prefer to sell them to another collector cheaper than he could get them from a dealer. maybe I would even get more than from the dealer who has to make a profit to pay rent and to eat.

I like selling to board members. Buying from board members also. That's probabaly my first preference as most here are dedicated to the hobby/business in one way or another.

I won't sell to ah-collectibles or any of their ilk if I can help it. Otherwise, I'm happy to sell to anybody. I'm doubly happy if a board member or RCCer buys it.
  • Doesn't matter who I sell to as long as the price is right and I can build my collection to greater levels with their money. BUILD, BUILD, BUILD!...image
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

Doesn't much matter to me. I'm looking for the best price, but do factor
shipping costs, time to pay, etc. Would give a collector at least a slight
    break.

It does matter who I buy from. I won't even look at some dealers' stock.

I would most definitely sell to a dedicated collector first.

Yes. If they are special to me, I try to pass them to someone who appears to appreciate the coin(s) the way I do.

If it is average or white, where there is no incentive to do anything to it/them, then it matters a little less.

Generally I don't sell the coins I acquire with the intention of putting them in my collection. I sometimes acquire coins because they appeal to me, but have no intention of adding them to a collection per se - just to keep active.
