How much should one pay for a 2003-W PR70 Silver Eagle?

Seller has 19 of these for sale... From NGC. Excuse my ignorance, but is that a good value? PCGS graded coins seem to command alot more. Thank you one and all.

A pcgs pr69dcam would probably be a better deal.
I would probably pay mint price+grading cost+$10 tops.
<< <i>Ngc pop shows 2,300 pr70's so far. >>
2250 are probably Coin Vault.

<< <i>I have seen several PCGS pr70 's go for $650.00 and up. >>
For that money, I think I would rather have 10 coins in the NGC PF-70 UCAM holder!

You got that right.
I've made this point now for the 6th time on this board, if you are so sure that the 69DCAM SAE's PCGS would go NGC 70 buy them, crack them out send them to NGC and triple or quardruple your investment. No one has taken me up on this yet.

<< <i>Investment SHmesment. Like I said, try to sell them to a dealer. >>
I agree. Try and sell them to a dealer and see what kind of a CASH offer you can get. This is how you can determine how much your coins are really worth.
<< <i>Those go for about $120 on Teletrade. >>
The last one to sell on Teletrade was back in July, and the pop has skyrocketed since then. It went for $85. I doubt one would even bring $50 now.

but what if they ARE 70's, and they're just grading them as they see them.
this talk of "granting" grades (or, more accurately, refusing to "grant" a coin the grade it deserves because of some perceived bias against "affecting the pops" or some nonsense) scares me

Most of the other dates don't have the enormous population of the 2003-W. Even PCGS is cranking out 70's by the truckload (relatively speaking).
Jay,
If you load up at $50 each, you better sell them quickly or your going to be stuck with losing inventory. They're already down to the $70's range and dropping fast.

<< <i>Thanks for all the feeback. I bought a PCGS PR69 for $37. Besides, 69 is much sexier than 70. Also, PCGS 69 is >/= NGC 70 seems to be the consensus. PS. When I find a PCGS PR70 for $95, I'm not going to tell anyone.
Sigh, that is absolutely not true, remember where you are. You are on a PCGS board, would expect the majority to say otherwise. But any way hope you enjoy your coin and you are correct in assuming a 69 is a better value than a 70 in a PCGS holder.
I can only give you the facts, you made your decision.
BTW that dealer is Silvertowne.
One last thing you will never get incorrect advise here.
might have you believe that all you have to do to get them for $10 is to call yourself a dealer
or to wait a few months until the pops are in the millions, the fact of the matter is that there
are collectors who desire these for their collections. Many are willing to settle for a 68 or 69
so long as the prices on the 70's are high but would happily upgrade should there be any fall-
off of price.
Perception is very important. It wouldn't matter if NGC were stricter or looser so long as most
people consider them to be a little looser there will be a tendency for the virtually perfect coins
to go there and the even better specimens to go to PCGS. Obviously not all making this decision
will be able to correctly assesss the difference or even have a basis for the comparison and many
may not even have this bias so it would follow that at least some NGC 70's are as good as at least
some PCGS 70's.
