Everyone knows how I feel about dipping coins, but those that deliberatly Dr coins to make money are scum sucking pigs!!!
I don't generally resort to name calling but deliberatly bragging about doing this to make money makes my blood boil and the people who pay moon money for the "picaso look" are contributing to the problem. Oh well, If the experts at pcgs and ngc can't tell you've done this and you make money at it, that makes it all o.k. right ??? B. S. !!!!!!

IMO - This is why I wish they would not slab ANY TONED COINS at all. Even the toners that people say are "natural" are not. How is it "natural" when a coin is placed in an environment which tones the "natural" silver color to a darkened black. It does that because of the chemicals that are in contact with it.
People will always tone coins on purpose and sell them because their are so many people (especially around here) who collect them so the market for them is quite active. If their were no market for them, then nobody would do it.
IMO all toned coins are ugly and take away from the original look the coin had. A fresh new coin right out of the mint is the look we should all crave for. That is how the coin was intended to look.

I prefer toning that looks natural to neon colored coins even if they are slabbed as market acceptable, Michael talks about liking the thick skinned original white coins the most, I agree with that but those coins are few and far between. At least on Mint State pieces with toning the 2 things I look for the most are believable non neon color and full unbroken luster bursting thru the toning, I much prefer those to coins that look painted or dipped.
I guess what started this thread was seeing some people in another thread admitting and even bragging about "working" coins another words that some forum members are coin Dr's and proud of it and bragging that half their crap gets by pcgs so that makes it O.K.

It's a fact that on occasion neon colors occur naturally on coins (most often through storage in the mintbag). How anyone can call the mintbag not a natural process is beyond me. The mintbag is from the mint. The coin goes into the mintbag. The mintbag sits for decades before being opened. This is the process since the mint's inception. Billions of coins go through this process. How can this not be considered a natural process?
I agree with a prior response here that the vast majority of blast white coins have been dipped (including your icon). If you think about that, you might say it's not natural to dip a coin!
THE MINT DOES NOT USE DIP!
THE MINT DOES NOT HAVE A PROCESS OF DIPPING FOR COINS (like they do for putting coins in bags)!
DIPPING HAS BECOME MARKET ACCEPTABLE!
In fact, the unmolested toned coins (especially the neon ones!) ARE more original.
