IMO, they're a waste of money. But, if you think you need one, PM Jeremy for instructions on how to make one out of a Tupperware bowl. A hell of a lot cheaper than buying one.
Tom I tried one and it(tupperware bowl) didn't work for me. I now use 2 lamps with the reveal bulbs(40 watts) and my picture taking has improved 100%. Tom
I use the cloud dome and like it. Look at my Ebay auctions below and decide for yourself if they take good pictures or not. I find it hard to get pictures of toning WITHOUT using the dome.
I tried it and I don't care for them - they give coins a weird look to them in my opinion. I'll stick to playing with light sources till I get the image I want just right.
One thing I've tried, and it works sometimes depending on the coin, is simply taking a sheet of 8.5x11 white copy paper and taping it over the lamp, to diffuse the light. Of course, I only do this for a short time at a stretch, as I don't want to overheat anything!

In the meantime... DO NOT invest more than $10 in a dome.
