Went Through a Roll of 2003-P Jeffersons

First, I was disappointed. I thought the roll would be 2003-D. I've rec'd many near MS 2003-Ds in change, so when I picked up a couple rolls and one was clearly MS, I assumed D mint. Wrong.

Then I looked at the coin. Terrible. MS63FS was about the best. Heavy marks along the jaw, and at the base of the coat. Nice luster, weak rims.

I have noticed that with all the 03-Ps I have gotten from change. I have kept all of them, which is less than 25, but still horrible shape.
  • I've received only one 2003-P in change. It was weakly struck but the rims seemed okay. I'd give it no more than a MS-61
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
  • So basically, they're just like the ones in the mint sets. Have they changed the way they move them from the presses?? image

    Wow! How timely!

I received my first 2003-P Jefferson just last Friday and I noticed the same thing. It was MS, but looked like it had been kicked around in the street a couple of times. So much so, that I decided to wait until a better one came around.

Maybe I should go back and dig it out of my change jar.

  • The 2003P & D nickels are plentiful here in Louisville. As are the dimes, quarters, and pennies.
  • Seen alot of pennies and quarters dated 2003 around here.Only one dime, and no Nickels.
