Opening and resealing a hard plastic proof set without damaging the packaging?

I have 1970 and 1971 proof sets that have milkey toning on some of the coins and wondered it the sets could be easily opened and then resealed afere removing the coins for a dip in MS70. Has anyone tried to do this?

The proof sets from 1968 to 1998 were all sonicly sealed similar to how slabs are done. On rare occasions they will split open easily but probably 99% of the time they dome and the case will show the tampering.

tampering with proof set is damaging it. open and resaling it after placing the better coins sucks for the buyer.

In my opinion, "don't do it" unless you have a reason to remove a coin, for conservancy or sale!

1970 proof sets often break open with little sign of damage. The 1971 is much
more difficult. In any case you'll be left with the problem of having to reseal them,
and they will have some white along the seams where the "welds" failed.
