  • OK, so I just heard on the radio that there are 14 different fires burning and at least 7 of them were arson.

    7 fires are conclusively arson?!?!?

Today is the first day of Ramadan.............connection??

Am I reaching here? Would the religion of peace have anything to do with this?? image

I can smell the smoke and my eyes are burning like they used to when people smoked inside. Outside it's pretty nasty, ashes all over the place and I don't think the air is good to breathe out there. This is really a mess.

Doesn't appear to be a connection right now. Several of these fires were set a few days ago, it's just that they spread with the hot, dry Santa Ana winds since Friday. One of the fires near San Diego was supposedly started by a lost hunter who set off a flare.

However, I won't rule anything out until I hear more.

I'm about two miles from the nearest hills so it would take a wildfire of Biblical proportions to get me.

clw, my girlfriend is going through the same thing you are right now. I just saw footage of Qualcomm Stadium. The smoke looks horrible down there. Hang in there.

It was dark all day. Wasn't fit to be outside on several occassions. Strange seeing the street lights on at 2 in the afternoon. And there's ash all over everything. It's probably going to be rough again tomorrow when the Santa Anna's kick up again.

We've been on fire watch all day. Live on the edge of a canyon and could see smoke all day and flames this morning.

Lots of ash in the air, hose is at the ready, have wife and coins packed for a quick escape.

Good luck to everyone in So. Cal.

  • It's been a couple of weird days here. Woke up this morning and scratched my head only to find my hair full of ash. image Was at a party last night and was outside for a few hours and I guess it slowly made itself at home on my head. image

  • We went to only "critical and essential" personnel today, and I'm like the only guy in the office.
  • San Diego is a frigging mess...and I don't think the scope of the problem is making the national news.

I was getting ready to go into work and the mayor said people should stay home. So I'm home today.

All non-essential navy personnel were told to stay home today, which sucks for me. We finally got a maintenance day and a break from the flight schedule, but now we won't be able to take advantage of it. Maintenance days are few and far between.

  • Well I'm home today too. SD mayor said not to go to work. The fires were about 10 miles from our house. But we live near downtown San Diego, so if they would have hit our area, then they would have been almost to downtown, so that was unlikely to happen. Back yard is covered in ash. All of SD county is still covered in smoke. The sky is still orange outside. What a weird experience.
