Did the white pack mint sets ever come from the mint sealed?

I purchased some sealed 1965 SMS, 1970-D and 1971 mint sets from an old collection. I opened a couple of the mint sets and the coins inside were really nice. Does any one know if the mint sold any of these sets sealed? I know that some of the proof sets were sold by the mint sealed, but these are the first sealed mint sets I have ever seen.

Yesterday I looked through a large lot of SMS/Mint and Proof sets that were from the original owner who had bought them from the mint. The envelopes were nice and crisp. There were 100 1969 Proof sets, which looked like they had never been touched.
Thought I'd hit a gold mine, as the dealer could care less about cameos. Thought I'd find a nice run of somehting in the 69 proof sets. I bought maybe 2-3 of them that had some margin DCAM minors. not a cameo half in the lot.
Did fond some nice 65 SMS cameo halves.
I'd stay away from sealed mint sets, unless all you want is a mint set. The chances of finding a nice coin in a mint set is very very slim to say the least. By being sealed your cahnces really don;t improve much at all.

Are you saying the white pack mint set envelopes had glue on the flaps and improper storage (humidity) can cause them to seal?

I totally agree, the best way to cherrypick gems and cameos from mint sets is to look at the coins. Buying sealed Proof and mint sets is a crap shoot at best. I have done really well finding AH Kennedys in the 1964 sealed proof sets though.
sealed and unsealed mint sets for the last several months. It occured to me
that some sellers might be sealing the sets in an attempt to hide inferior sets.
So far there's really no evidence of this. There does seem to be a slightly higher
chance of heavy toning or corrosion, but this is likely consistent with being stored
in higher humidity conditions.
About 10% of 1996 mint sets have glue on the envelopes too. None of the other
post '71 envelopes for regular issue mint sets have it.

Hopefully we won't see sealed 1996 mint sets minus the W-dime being sold as mint sealed complete with W-dime for sale on ebay.
Do you know if all flat pack proof sets were sold sealed from the mint?

They all have glue on the envelopes but I don't know if they were all sold sealed. People
more knowledgeable than I have said they were all sold sealed. I've seen some that were
not sealed but these may have been steamed open.
The '71 envelopes have glue also.
I was not there when they were packed pre-1971 but I have bought numerous mint sealed boxes where the envelopes were sealed. I have bought both locally and in Baltimore this past summer from dealers with mint sealed sets from the 60's through 1971. I still buy individual sets that are mint sealed. So I guess this is a great point of contention. I have found some pretty nice coins in sealed sets in the past year. My local source for mint sets has been collecting since the late 40's and he sells sealed sets. That's my 2 cents!!

sealed envelopes. These were shipped in "bags" and I've never seen one
sealed inside the bag. It's only been in recent years that there are so many
sealed. Some of these seem to be obviously sealed by high humidity and some
seem sealed through intent, but there's no evidence that any were sealed at
the mint.
