  i emailed a guy like this and asked him "what gives"
  
  he said he was helping a friend to get rid of his "shades" icon on ebay, and that no real money will change hands.
  
  it seems some sellers will refuse to allow bidders with shades or will refuse to sell to them.

  That makes sense, a lot of sellers will cancel bids with lower than 10. Don't you even have to have 10 or more to do BIN or something?

  The shades stay on for 30 days regardless of how many feedbacks you have.
  
  The BIN is not an option if you have 10 or less as stated above. I believe that is for buying and selling.

  Didn't someone past a few weeks ago an eBay guy selling "absolutely nothing w/free shipping". If I recall it went for $5 and + feedback between buyer and seller

  I believe either my first or second purchase on ebay was a BIN. I still only have a FB profile of 7.
