Coin Shops in Phoenix?

I'm going to be visiting the Phoenix AZ area in a bit, are there any shops that I should make time to visit?

  • Is your objective solely aimed at Liberty nicks, or do you have other items in mind?

I don't frequent too many shops in town, but there are a couple on the NE side the I visit occasionally. Interestingly, they're also almost side-by-side! I suppose it depends on the duration of your visit and the amount of travelling you're willing to do. (The metro area is pretty spread out).

One can be visited at Text. He's mainly focused on the stamp trade, but often comes across interesting specimens. I've acquired a couple of nice pieces for my U.S. Type collection there. Around the corner is Valley Coin. Much more material in stock and definitely worth a visit. This guy surprises me with the breadth of his offerings ( but I impress easily ).

Let me know if you'd like more details.
The Body of Benjamin Franklin Printer (Like the cover of an old book Its contents torn out and stript of its lettering and gilding) lies here, food for worms.
But the work shall not be lost for it will (as he believed) appear once more in a new and more elegant edition revised and corrected

  • I'd like to see whatever might be about, though I'll be concentrating on the Liberty Nickels and Three Cent Nickels. I'll have a friend with me who likes modern South American Coins, so she'll have things to seek also (Her coins cost 25¢ each, mine $200, it's just not fair! :-) . Basically we plan to make an afternoon out of looking at shops and such if possible, so I'm open to any stores that are decent places to browse. Never know what one might find in a store. I found my 1893 proof Lib at a great price in a small (but very well stocked and run) hole in the wall shop while traveling.

    42nd ave. and Dunlap

At least I think it's Dunlap, either way it's the north west side of town. Small shop in a strip mall, seems well stocked with the casual stuff and priced about right for a shop. Does have some good older stuff,, just ask. They always do me good. I use them for supplies & bullion.
