This is one of the best. The homepage says it is sold out but this is the one you need to locate: The Error Coin Enclyopedia
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • "The Error Coin Encyclopedia" by Arnold Margolis and Fred Weinberg is a very good book on the subject of error coins. The authors discuss how coins are made and then show how malfunctions in this process create the error coins we see today.

This book is in it's third edition and should be available at any major bookstore. I highly recommend it.

I can also recommend "Price Guide to Mint Errors", by Alan Herbert. It is an excellent resource.

The ANA book on the minting process is a great one to start with. It has a large section on how errors are made.

I have Alan Herbert`s 6th edition price guide to mint errors.
Its a pretty good read with lots of good info.
    I,d recommend it.
Also I noted so errors in photos in the book. Thats sorta funny. Printing errors such as: on page 129
the photo is upside down. Also not sure its the right photo for the error discribed. `83 double ear?
Then on page 206 the photo of the ` `81 dime` is from page 188 and is a Lincoln cent. image
  • I should write a book on errors, half the coins i buy are errorsimageimageimage

A few months back Alan was offering signed copies of you ordered it directly from him. I think it was $18 post paid, but I'm not sure. I got one and it's a great resource. I'm sure he would still do this if you contact him.
