Check out a Vanguard Roth IRA.

I,ll guess its from a streaky planchet since the ridges are in the devices also.
How would it affect the overall grade is what I,m wondering.
Do they take off much for a lesser quality planchet?
I guess a case could be made for both ways about it.
Ie; little to no affect of grade, or its a big neg in the eye-appeal dept.?
Low grade 63 +/- 1 point, High grade 66 +/- 1 point.

Anyway the coin looks 65 or maybe 66 from the pic, plus or minus a point depending on how it looks in hand. Must be better because otherwise why slab such a coin? How's the reverse?
Edit: just noticed in bikingnut's sig that he is looking for PCGS AU58 Washingtons.
Change my guess to AU58

<< <i>Ms 66 with heavy die polish lines. >>
I don't think it's die polish. It's too straight and doesn't run under the devices but over them. It's not likely cleaning, either, since it is too straight for cleaning. It's most likely a not fully struck coin showing streaks for the original planchet.

I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!
I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!
If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??

<< <i>It looks cleaned and artificially toned. >>
The coin is not cleaned and the toning is 100% natural. It toned up from being housed in one of those five coin aftermarket mint sets.
In case anybody wanted to see the reverse.

I too have seen these streaks on Washingtons and Lincolns too. Pretty cool looking sometimes.
Despite that opinion though PCGS knocked it down a point or too for it it seems. I suppose they felt
it was a neg towards the overall grade? Without the streak toning the coin is a 66-67 is what
PCGS thought I guess?
...take some nick-0-date on a Q-tip and work it into a BU SQ then wipe it off / wash it and you,ll likely
reveal the streaks on the planchet that was probably caused by the rollers that process the stock.
....ok,so i ruined the look of a SQ. Coinstar still takes it...
Also pulled from an aftermarket mint set. There's something about the velvet flocked cardboard inserts in these that can produce some pretty cool toning in a wide variety of patterns and colors.
