I will correct you on a few things you have stated....

Russ is not mean (well, I have seen that he can be, but he seems pretty straight up from what I have seen...in PMs and postings).
I am not boycotting his auctions, but am avoiding the suspect ones right now that may be yours.
You are not smart. Smarmy maybe, but not smart.

If it was meant as a joke, it wasn't a good joke. Rather sad and trying. If it is real, then you really aren't smart. Rather moronic in shilling for your own items like you did.

If your latest post is another joke, accusing a member of selling counterfeit coins, that is not cool as well....

Darktone correctly stated why I felt it was uncool.
And, I can understand people having others sell nice items for them (they may have better feedback, more loyal customers, be known to have PQ items, take much better pictures, etc). That didn't bother me.
Possibly spamming THIS forum for his items, without stating that himself, then saying that russ sell counterfeits (even IF in jest), is not, imho, cool.

Hey, guys, lighten up. Doug is not a dealer who sells full time. He's simply alerting us in his own way that some part of his collection of toned dollars is for sale. In fact, I'd say he's doing many of us who might be interested in his pretty coins a fovor, for otherwise we probably wouldn't know they were up for auction. Given all that Doug has contributed to this forum, and the quality of his collection of toned dollars, is it so terrible for him to indicate here the sale of his coins, especially in an area that is of such interest to so many members of this forum? I, for one, don't think so.

Well, I am sorry if I was out of line in this thread. I am fairly new at the Forum but have been here long enough to know that when Lucybop scolds someone, that person must truly in the wrong.

BTW, I found a really cool, uniquely toned 1985-S proof lincoln that I will try to photo and show later. My camera skills stink (hence Russ doing my auctions, since his pics rule!), but I will do my best. It is an amazing green!

FWIW,
I don't have as much of a problem (none so far actually) with people posting in this forum that they have items for sale.
The problem I have is when people seem to pump up the items without admitting it is their item they are pumping up.
That is what I saw in the first post or two of this thread.

Also, not knowing the party involved, when he said Russ sells counterfeits (and he hadn't really came out and said Russ was selling his coins, but was playing coy), well, that is still uncool as it may not be taken as a joke.

Sorry if people thought I went overboard on this, but, I think it could have been done a lot better, IMHO.

I agree. If uofa1285 had started a thread stating that Russ was selling some coins for him and to check it out, I wouldn't have a problem with that approach. This one was offensive.

If you REALLY want MONSTER coins try to get them from monstercoins (Greg Bingham).

You have to be the worst 'spammer' in all of PCGS board history. You 'spam' these boards and don't even provide a link to these 'spam' auctions for those of us who don't know how to get to Russ' auctions.

Don't get me wrong, I too think you should rot in hell for your dastardly 'spamming' ways but I pity your poor 'spamming' skills, none the less.

Now I understand what the deal is. Russ certainly has excellent picture skills as well as a top flight well presented selling page for each item. I have nothing against someone wanting to get top dollar for their coins, as do we all! As far as the thinly veiled advertising ploy, I dont have a problem with that because I wont be buying from Russ anyway, not because I dont like Russ but because I prefer to buy my toned morgan dollars at a price lower than I will be able to sell them for, and if one buys from the top four or five sellers of toned morgan dollars on EBAY, of which Russ is included by me (from the standpoint of maximizing price realized) not based on volume, they will be doing the opposite. This is purely a question of how much one wants to pay for the material they buy. I want to pay less, not more!

Unfortunately for the 'conspiracy theorists' like Stevie... (whose jealousy of Russ could not possibly be more evident) - he fails to recognize that Russ does consignment for MANY - not just one seller.
