Guess what! I think Liberty gold is ugly. SBAs and IKEs at least have a neat reverse, regular and bicentennial (IKEs). Nothing wrong with Franklins, especially cameo proofs. I don't care much for Washingtons, especially clads when they changed the strike. Same for Kennedy clads when they changed the strike. Other than that I like most of our designs. Jeffs and Lincolns grow on you.

Undoubtably the disgustingly designed Shriver dollar. Somebody phoned that one in, and the connection was NOT a good one.

As for the reverse of the Bridgeport half; it actually has outstanding artistic merit - but may be a little beyond the grasp of the average person's sensibilities. Oh well, it's that kind of thing that makes dilettantes like me take pride.

The obverse just has Queen Elizabeth, when she was still young and pretty (at least in her portraiture on coins). So that kind of balances out the "God Of Fertility".

I still defy anyone to come up with something uglier than a fierce, woodgrainy-lookin', potbellied guy with a head like something out of the Alien films, and his "naughty bits" swingin' in the wind, as one British dealer put it.

The "other" side is a definate classic then.

I am not so sure that having a classic side and an ugly side is worse than some of the before mentioned US modern commemoratives. Many of the commemoratives have an ugly side and an OK or good side. A few are just downright ugly and the only good side is the reeding on the edge

And the reverse is among the best in US coinage, commemorating what is arguably mankind's most impressive achievement to date. NASA had its roots in the Eisenhower administration, by the way.

Worst are circulated SAC dollars toned the typical turd-brown. Second are a blackish toned Franklins.
