Coin Junkie?

I had a long awaited day off today and was so excited about getting to go over to a local coin shop I had heard about but had not been able to make it over to. I was so disappointed I walked in and there wasn't much inventory and what they did have was so over graded and the prices were way over priced. I was ready to get a much needed fix but was unable to find anything worth having. Now I am trying to get my fix by way of the web. Am I hopeless?

Get your fix on Ebay for the time being and plan to go to the next local coin show. Have you considered a coin club?

No, you're just one of 11,262 users of this site.

That figure seems a bit dubious, but suffice it to say, there are plenty of other hopeless cases in the world.

The 'net beats the ads in the hobby magazines, especially if you live in a small town without a dealer, or one that has a single dealer who's rather optimistic in his grading and pricing. You can't top eBay for sheer selection! And even if you don't go to eBay, there are myriad options...

  • Hey Bootleg, you don't always need a store or a show to get your fix.
There're plenty of on-line dealers and grading websites that have great
pix of the coin you're looking for.
I'm not an e-Bay person myself but I've found some good deals elsewhere.

  • I must say I have found some great people and deals on this sight. I live in a little Texas town an hour or so away from Dallas and have visited a couple good shops in the Metroplex. Its just I work a lot of overtime and when ever I get a chance I try to find some place to get my hands on some nice coins. I was just a little disapointed in the shop I chose today

Dallas has some excellent Coin Shows. You may wish to drive to Houston for the SW Money show in January. It's a really big regional show that draws lots of National dealers.

I'll be happy to recommend some Coin Shops in Houston if you make it down our way!

  • I reference to Stuart's reply...Yes, you can get into the C.A. program; however, you must first be initiated by understanding the H.O.W. of the program. No, not Honesty, Openmindedness, & Willingness. You need the numismatic HOW..Hope... that pcgs will... Overgrade... the coin you'll submit so it will be...Worth...alot of money.Text
