1972-P Type Two IKE Dollar Sold For $420.00 on eBay Last Night.

Is this a reasonable price? I have seen three MS64s on eBay over the last three or so months that all sold for less than $150.00. I remember seeing one on eBay about a year ago (before the attribution started) that sold for $104.00. MS63s are selling anywhere from $70.00 to $125.00.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I also notice that there seems to be the same bidder bidding on all of them. He really wanted the 64 last night, but dropped off after bidding $415.00.

The last pop report I saw listed 17 MS64 Type 2"s with only 5 higher (4 MS65 & 1 MS66) so I can see how the price is being driven since attribution, BUT there have been a couple of Ike bidders/buyers on eBay recenlty that seemingly have been willing to pay just about anything to get one. ie. about a month ago I'm pretty sure a 1972-P MS65 type 3 (pop 211) went for $538!!!!
I've noticed this trend on eBay too and I've decided to wait to bid on anything until after they fill their sets up or be lucky with "Buy it Now" because it seems that a couple of buyers have money to burn when it comes to Ike's recently. It'd be a great time to sell off a few Ike's though!
What I like about Tad is that he prices his coins based on eye appeal for the grade. You know...."Buy the coin and not the holder" sort of thing.
You are right that right now is a great time to unload some IKEs on eBay. Too bad I have none to dump.
<< <i>Since there is no way you can make a judgment about the coin from the picture it's clear the buyer purchased the holder. >>
I was thinking the same thing, but did not want to say it myself.
All depends on one guy more or less that shows up for the party, I guess.
I saw your auction. I did not think it would go so cheap. Maybe the market just is not there right now for these?
I won't pay that kind of $$$ for an MS-64 72-P type two Ike dollar. The price was very steady in Teletrade for around $100 an ANACS MS64 72-P type two Ikes. Also, I know some MS65 coins were out there and they have not been re-holdered yet.
How scarce are the type one and type two 72-P? I am waiting for the pop reports one year from now to see whether our estimation is correct.

It hasn't started yet
