Long Beach final chapter: 1837 Reeded Edge Half - pix of wild colors

Bought this beauty on Thursday sold it on Saturday. image I can't recall owning a coin for a shorter period!

The coin looks better in person. I never fall in love with a coin if the price is right.

it must be rough to be in that circumstance. having to sell your newly aquired gem and getting bullied
into selling, or have an arm broken or something. you eastcoasters have it rough i tell ya.

Ohbaby -That appears to be one lovely coin.

Had I seen it at the show, I certainly would have considered buying it.

Unlike your dicipline, I always seem to get emotionally involved with my

coins and have a very hard time selling them.

did you buy the coin to flip, or did you intend to keep it but received "an offer you couldn't refuse"?

I'm looking for one of those in AU58.

    OhBaby

What else can I say but "Oh Baby!" Sharp details, nice color, abundant luster and very smooth surfaces. Real sweet!

I'm looking for a nice solid original in MS65. Your 64 looks very nice.

  • That is a wonderful coin, the shortest amount of time i've owned a coin is about 2 minutes. (81 type 2 SBA bought at a show walked across the isle and sold it.)

I'd like to see that one up close. image
    I brake for ear bars.
  • Baley, I bought and always buy with the intention of "collecting" but when an opportunity to flip w/o effort on my part presented itself I went for it. I already own 2 such halves but this was the nicest and most expensive. The money earned will go towards better values. It was a dynamite coin which I sold for an inflated price [like most toned coins today]. Will look at getting a chain cent, MS early copper or original Flowing Hair $ next, this sale will allow me to buya little higher in the food chain.

coinlieutenant, how can my ex-coin go out on a date! We haven't even met! What kind of coins do you think I buy! image

roadrunner, finding an original or original looking one in MS65 is near impossible. I have seen plenty of 65s and they almost all have problems. For the amount spend the better values are down under and you get some character with the coin.

lava, you can see the up close image by doing a cut and paste on images [now red x's] in the initial post. I suspect they are not showing up due to bandwidth limitations. If you PM me with your email I can send you the 1mg file, better have cable or T1 and a mailbox that can take big files.
