I do not always believe the holder, and I expect that you do not either. This early green PCGS holder says VF-25, and I bought the coin tonight at the VF-25 price. I am going to resubmit, and I would expect something in the 40-50 range.
Most likely...though my cracking skills are quite lame. Last time I cracked a bunch, I dropped an ICG MS-63 1907 Saint $20 into the garbage can. I pulled it out, sent it to PCGS, and it came back as a MS-64. Dumb luck sure beats no luck at all!
I am probably going to send it to NGC. They are a bit more...how shall we say...generous...with 19th century gold. I fully expect 40. I have 45 and higher coronet eagles and half eagles that do not look as nice and original as this 1860 $10.
I was looking through the ANA grading pictures. It certainly lloks better than their VF picture but isn't as nice as their EF picture. I would put it as VF30 or 35.
that first picture took 20 seconds to load on cable modem... please don't do that to me again I almost went crazy in that time. Where the heck is that picture coming from? Mars?
After a week of emailing Heritage to pay for the coin, I had not heard back. I called today, and they seemed a bit confused by the whole thing. They did not have any idea that I won this lot. Based on their ebay feedback, it appears that they have not mastered this format. Will I get the coin in the end? Will we ever how NGC would grade it?

Good find, that coin is easily better than a 25. You need to submit it raw to maximize the upgrade potential.
I can see you recieving a 40.
Man after this thread, I know I got to get off Dial up!!!
