When you send in coins to "cross"
say from NGC to PCGS.... do you send pcgs the entire NGC slab for them to crack it out?

It would be fun to see the look on the persons face at pcgs that opens the package and finds ngc labels in flips with the form filled out for crossover.
If people send in other slabs to PCGS and PCGS doesn't cross them and sends them back to you in their original holder, does PCGS keep track of this information?
Wouldn't it be great to go to PCGS.com's site and look up a competitor's slab number to see if it was already submittted.... If you knew ahead of time that it didn't cross, you'd most likely not purchase it as it would be considered overgraded if you collect PCGS only.
Think about a $ 5,000 coin in a NGC holder that's $ 6,000 in a PCGS holder (I know buy the coin, not...blah blah) just because of the PCGS marketibility. Knowing that it was already submitted to cross and didn't would be such a benifit to the buyer.....
I doubt it, and if they do , they don't share it.
What you are asking for is from the customer's standpoint (save money, know that the coin has already been submitted for a crossover and didn't make it in the grade, etc). From a business standpoint, why would they want to make that available?
PCGS doesn't make money from what someone sells the coin for. They make money when people submit.
So, your suggestion is meant twofold, from what I can see....
1) If the coin has already been attempted at a crossover, and didn't make it, then we know the coin isn't likely to be there, so buy it for what it is, not what you hope you see in it.
2) The coin has already been attempted, so don't bother trying to resubmit it over and over.....save your money.
I don't see anything compelling for PCGS on this....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
"A" thinkers and companies (or people) who don't "think out of the box" are those who are in it just for the almightly dollar and put the customer last. They will NEVER be the leader in their industry. Heck, NGC doesn't even allow free certification verification on their site. Do you REALLY think this is wise for them? How many times have you used PCGS's verification? Why? PCGS didn't HAVE to give you that information, heck, they make no money at it....... o, you like it... because it's free huh....and it's a great service huh....
It's all about "customer satisfaction" and giving people what they want. Great companies who are leaders in their industry are there for a REASON. The customer.....
Does PCGS make any money if they gave us this service... NO... would they win more customers over by providing this type of information to us for free.... you bet.... and in the long run, they'd make more money by continuing to strive to be the best in the industry. The company that sits and waits to see how much more money they can make by limiting services will ultimately go out of business.....
Step 1. Submit coin for crossover in other services holder and it comes back DNC.
Step 2. Crack coin out, re-submit raw and it gets holdered by PCGS at the grade you thought it would during step 1.
