Is LordMarcovan a reincarnation? Startling evidence found!

Who is LordMarcovan and from where did he come? Those were the questions that we asked ourselves when this legend of numismatics rejected our collection of holed large cents last month. Our exhaustive research has led to the conclusion that LordMarcovan is a distant relative of the 19th century Chief of the Tlingit Tribe in Alaska. The following photo is from the January 1979 issue of Coins magazine. Note the manner in which the holed Chinese coins cover the vest in the image. Amazingly, over 130 years later and LordMarcovan has incorporated the exact same method of displaying his coin collection.

  • The is a mystical legend...I live in the same town as he, but have never seen him!
  • We received a PM asking why I was just now reading the January, 1979 issue of Coin World. I know you won't believe this, but I put in a change of address back in 1/79 and the USPS just now got around to forwarding my mail. I am looking forward to reading the March, 1984 issue of The Numismatist by early next week.

I hate to spoil it for you but wait til you read about the discovery of the 1983 and 1984 doubled die lincolns and the 82P roosie!

    some amazing stuff.image
  • Hey Jade when the 1995 issues come, don't waste all your money on those '95 doubled dies. I sense they will go down in value. image

I've seen quite a few garments made with Chinese cash coins. In fact, it was so commonplace, they still make replica cash coins for the purpose. (A member sent me one. At first, I was baffled as to why somebody would make a replica of something that could be bought genuine for less than a dollar, but then I realized they are still using them for clothing and jewelry).

Chinese cash coins are the primary reason I do NOT use coins with "mintmade" holes on the vest. I like them fine, but I could cover a closet full of vests with the dang things.

BTW, I'm not a reincarnation. I remember when I gave that old thing to the Smithsonian.

LordMarcovan branch of the tree of Holey Clothes is but a generation in a long line of moneywearers, a living thing that grows new offshoots... LM himself sent me a holed coin with a loop attached, and with the couple of holed coins I already had, there's a start to a holey ball cap:

I think you have to define a collection, so mine will be pre civil war US type coins quarter and smaller, and I will not drill or commission the drilling of the holes myself, they must be pre holed. and also bargain priced.

If it weren't for the holes, these would be nice coins, they have great detail.
