Now that PCGS is recognizing the FB attribute, are prices tanking for non-FB coins?

ABSOLUTELY!!! Just as non-FBL Franklins are a hard sell since they began designating the FBL's.

Here are some price changes that I have noticed for non-FB Roosies

Before FB After FB
MS68 $4500 $1500
1952D $275 $50
1957D $90 $20
1964 $250 $85

The percentage drop is about the same across the board give or take.

As rainbowroosie noted above, its the COIN that dictates the price. Tough or hard to find FB coins like a 55S, 57P, or 58P in MS67FB will be VERY expensive compared to a non-band coin (perhaps 10x to 20x today) but a gorgeous toned and pristine quality common date can still easily bring more than a MS67FB. Good examples are common date FB coins like a 1946S which is a $50 coin in MS67 non-band and perhaps $125-150 in FB while a VERY attractive non-band coin might bring $150-200...more than a plain jane FB just on eye appeal and looks (we're talking REALLY nice here). In closing, what will really contribute to valuation will be the PCGS announcemnet (expected this month) on Registry weighting for the FB coins.....that could change alot and make a MS66FB that's a $40 coin worth more or equal to a MS68 non-band that's a $1500 coin today (and a condition rarity).

I had a 1999-D, 2000-D, and 2002-P all in MS68 w/o FB and sold them while the gettin was good. The prices have fallen since I sold them 7 weeks ago. I havn't replaced them as of yet, but wanted to unload them because of the FB and the really high pops for 1999-date MS68's. IMHO I think that the FB will be just like the Merc's. Most collectors will want to collect FB regardless if the top pop for a coin is an MS68 and they can only get a MS67FB. I would and still prefer an MS68 over a MS67FB, but this has been discussed on an earlier thread.

Onlyroosies has 3 MS68's in his silver set w/o FB and I'm sure that he choose them over 3 MS67FB's.

I was not for the designation at first and the 3 MS68 non-FB dimes in my set are IMO superior to there counter part MS67FB.
But only superior as eye candy. I have since commited myself to building a complete Full band set. Tying great color and eye appeal
in with full bands has been a challenge. But that is my goal for this set. I believe one of those MS68's has full bands and will
eventually be designated with FB. As far as the other 2 go, (the 52S & 54S) Well those two have been sold and will be replaced
with Full band dimes to complete the full band set when the bonus points are determined by PCGS.

Paul, I hope I didn't disappoint you to much for jumping ship. But I made sure they went to a good home. A board member
that will really appreciate them.

Mitch, No tag team play here. Those 2 dimes are on hold until the bonus points are awarded and then they go bye bye.
I can guarantee you they will not be part of my set for competition. We may see a fourth set that wants to enter the competition
and you may see those dimes in that set.

Bill, You passed on those two dimes when they were offered to you the first time. They weren't cheep, but like you said about your
54D quality never is.

Nick, I check on your set as often as possible and it is tops. If you have a set of Roosies and have a few MS68's in there, I don't think that anyone would look at your set any different. But, if you remove them from your set, your set rating will fall unless you replace them with FB's, so good luck.

P.S. Are you as commited to your clad set as you are with the silver? I think that having all FB's for the clad is even more difficult.

Nick, thanks for the giggle. I needed that. I don't think that I have any dimes that would improve your clad set, but thanks. I would love to see a full set of clad FB's. That would indeed be fantastic to see. I will be keeping an eye out for that 1.

Steve, not really - its still about FB Rosy's but its just twisted and turned a bit. I think the answer to your original question was probably answered in some of the earlier replies. Us Rosy guys just like to show off some of our pretty toners (perhaps too much).
