It's the strike. Very typical for this era Jefferson.

Actually, it's probably more typical of business strike jeffs of the era. I've got 65's and 66's pulled from sms from local dealers that have distinctive steps, pillars, windows, etc.

Nice... you can sometimes similarly toned Jeffs in mint sets too. A little tough to do for 1965 though.

Yeah, I wasn't very clear. I should have said aftermarket year set. It came from one of those little five coin ones with the velvet flocked cardboard insert. They produce some pretty nice toning sometimes and can be had pretty cheap. Great for those of us who like scrounging for coins.

There are lots of guys around here that take great pics, and I'll tell you the same thing they probably would. The secret is to keep beating your head against the wall coin after coin and then after shooting a few thousand images, they start to look pretty good.

I picked up a nice toned 47D jeff in a bargan basket at the coin shop last week to post here, but I got home and ready to hook the scanner up to the new computer there was NO printer port in it.
