Here David Hall....a letter to bail you guys out.....

Dear Mad Marty,

On XX date you submitted (XX number) of brightly toned proof Jefferson Nickels for certification. PCGS graders reviewed and certified the entire lot believing that the toning was natural in origin.

After evaluating subsequent submittals of proof Jefferson Nickels toned with similar color, our staff now questions the authenticity of the toning. In short, we believe that there is a liklihood that the coins have been artificially toned.

Subsequent to our certification of your initial batch, you submitted another large sampling of toned proof Jefferson Nickels for certification. These coins were not only rejected for certification due to our concern about the originality of the toning, but it has come to my attention that you were billed in full for our grading fees. Since it is reasonable that you assumed we would certify the second batch, as we had the first, I feel that you were billed in error for the grading fees. The proper procedure would have been to contact you by phone or e-mail for a discussion of the matter.

I have now instructed our accounting department to issue a grading coupon to you in the amount of your fees billed for that second batch of coins and hope that you will continue to be a loyal PCGS customer. We value your business.

PCGS has received numerous other proof Jefferson nickels with similar toning from other parties. And while we've not yet formulated a policy as it relates to charging grading fees for these additional submissions, we hope to do so very soon. We're also aware that there is now a small population of these coins, housed in PCGS holders, avaliable in the marketplace. Our staff is discussing options for the proper disposition of these coins.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

Best regards,

David Hall
Grand Mufty of PCGS

So, what'cha think?

...However, since you're such a pud, we will be sending the refund money to Russ so he can buy more Accented Hairs to submit. image

As to regard for the topic,er GSAGuy`s post, I,m only laughing at Frank and not in any way
laughing to the subject nor the arthor of this thread.

I think PCGS could go along with maybe half of that but the buying back these `mistakes`
to rid the market of these still marketable coins, isnt a likely possibility IFI view PCGSs position
on this event. And maybe I,m not..viewing PCGSs position on this.
Its all still unsure to me anyway,as to WHAT they,re position is, and how they will either
    rectify or justify they,re position.
