Why delete the ASK?

Why do sellers on the BST board delete the ask price for the coins that they sell?

They list a number of coins that they have for sale along with the prices that they are asking, then, when they sell some of the coins, they delete the ask price and write "SOLD" in its place.

Quite a few times I come ypon these sales only after some of the coins have sold and never see what was asked. It would be nice just to know what the coin was going for. What is the advantage of deleting the original ask price?

I don't think it's the sellers deleting the price. I think it's government spies hacking in to the BBS. They're all around us, interfering with even the most trivial matters.

As a seller, I'd do the same thing, primarily as a courtesy to the buyer. It's nobody's business what he paid.

That's all fine and dandy, but the fact is the buyers usually PM the seller with their offer to buy, so, the buyer is usually not known anyway. Hence, the seller isn't protecting anything.

i think it's stupid to go in and delete the price, enter sold and leave the coin listed. since it's a simple process of highlighting a few more characters and pressing delete, why do sellers leave the listing up at all? when an item sells, why not just delete it??

Good one Russ, I got a chuckle out of that.
