Are unopened mint boxes really unopened??
I noticed that there are quite a bit of unopened usmint boxes of proof sets on ebay.... and when you look back through their feedback, you notice that at some point the seller was also a buyer of the same *unopened* US Mint box.
I guess my question is are those blue USmint boxes openable without being noticed? I am not asking becuase i intend to do it, I just dont want to get ripped off....
I have, in the past purchased an unopened box, and noticed they are sealed with some wierd glue that looks like wax, but also have a mailing label on the outside. I just seems curious that someone would buy an unopened box, then sell it for basically what you paid for it.

Unfortunately, when there's a chance for monetary gain, almost anything can happen.
I've bought and sold a lot of unopened GSA boxes and I examine each one carefully before purchase in an effort to determine if they've been tampered with.
I've also bought sealed mint sets, let them sit in a box for years, and then sold them without opening a single one. So it does happen.

tampered with. There was never much of a premium for most of these un-
opened until recently so it may start happening. Most of these boxes would
be difficult to reseal and the older ones often have post marks on each side
making it even harder.
