I recently watched the Antiques Road Show on PBS. Lots of parallels to our coin world. What I now realize is that people, by nature, are more often bad than good. The deception and corruption often associated with business people should clearly be shared by the buying public. In other words, it has nothing to do with whether or not you are a consumer or a business.....people just plain suck by nature. Evil abounds. No offense to anaconda, but life is like walking through a garden of snakes.

I hate this place.

I do however think we should take it a step further than just seeking out the good. ... at the same time we have to keep fighting/exposing/busting the bad so that the good have some turf to stand on.

I came to the point where I had to admit to myself that I don't quite know what to make of existence. I will
say that I am glad I had a chance and I wear rose colored glasses most of the time.

The daily grind makes it tough,

sometimes it good to leave our color t.v.,s computers, automoblies, and all the wizzard machines man has invented, and step back and take a good long look at nature......a garden full of flowers, a walk in the woods, listen to a waterfall, spend an eveing looking at the stars, no human tongue can count thier numbers....yet the father calls each one by name.......try doing something completely diffrent, if you need to make a change, only you can do it, others can only help you along......life is a wonderful gift what we do with that gift is up to us........

russ, we were on a camping trip, and dad cooked up this rattler.....i was suprised at first, dad said he ate some of these critters during the war.......it was very good......

Who said snakes are such bad people, Maybe Adrian lives in your back yard! I happily invite snakes into my back yard, they help to keep other types of critters down. (Not to mention making my wife jump up and run away, screaming when she see's them! Such free entertainment! LOL!)

And if it turns out that one or two do have venomous fangs, Well, as Russ suggested earlier in this thread, a little barbecueing can solve that problem! Although I'd add some fresh garlic to his recipe!

Aside from that, if you stopped to talk to them, some of those snakes might just be shaking baby rattles to scare off the bigger dogs! (no offense intended Dog!)

I hope tomorrow goes a lot better for you NumisEd! (or would that be later today?!)

I remember a story told to me by my older brother about our late father.

It seems he was something of an "outdoorsman"...

The Southern California desert is know for... among other things - rattlesnakes.

It seems that in the company of others - our father was accosted by a particularly nasty little fellow about 5' in length.
As the story goes -- he snatched that puppy up by the tail, and gave him a "pop" (like a whip) - snapping his head clean-off.
They ate him for dinner.

Snakes?
Big deal.

I'm sorry your in a bad mood Ed. Some have quoted the Bible in an effort to minimize your troubled view of humanity. Here is my perspective. Man is inherantly good. If "God" is the essence of our being, than that must mean we are in essence good ("God looked at his creation, and indeed it was good") That is the part of man we need to acknowledge regardless of outward appearances. You treat people appropriate to thier behaviour, but try to inwardly acknowledge thier true essence. Everyone you meet silently, within your own being, greet the part of them that is ominpresence.

Cannot agree, man is born a sinner. Mans natural instincts are self centered self serving survival of the fittest. we should all try to do good and fight evil, as we define them.
I've eaten snake a few times, it tastes like fried batter with dip.
antique roadshow is fascinating to anyone who collects anything avidly.
knowledge has always been power, so those who know more usually have an edge.
