I recently watched the Antiques Road Show on PBS. Lots of parallels to our coin world. What I now realize is that people, by nature, are more often bad than good. The deception and corruption often associated with business people should clearly be shared by the buying public. In other words, it has nothing to do with whether or not you are a consumer or a business.....people just plain suck by nature. Evil abounds. No offense to anaconda, but life is like walking through a garden of snakes.

rather, it is the presence of goodness and selflessness and hope
amidst the evil. Seek out the goodness and deny all that is afflicted.
Man is the only creature with the ability to choose between good and evil,
therefor choose good.

..........................numised, calm down......life is full of boulders we have to climb over.....true, by nature some people are as corrupt as they come....we dont have to be like them....if they choose to be that way, its thier lost....in the end, they will answer for thier deeds........mean while we walk thru that garden of snakes, and do our best not to get bitten.............
that is unique to each. If one believes all is a cess pool then that is the vision.
I choose to look at the beauty that exists in this, the most beautiful of the planets.
the magnificence of the four seasons. The love that exists amidst all of the anger and the hate.
The simple acts of kindness in spite of all the crass commercial interests and deceit. Reality is that
portion of life we choose to see and that portion of life we choose to live.

In reality you are a pretty nice person , always ready to help and give an honest opinion.
Sorry to ruin your image ,but I think you are more the optomist then you wish to admit.

Or, just chop off their heads, peel off their skin and toss them in a frying pan with some salt, pepper and butter. They curl up like a pin wheel, so you get a little entertainment with dinner.

.........russ i had rattlesnake once.. it tasted like chicken, wasnt bad....
When I was a kid, I ate rattlesnake regularly. I was living in Eastern Washington at the time, and we used to go hunt them.

you would lick your lips and say it tasted just like chicken.

So here's a smillie
A bear & a rabbit were making a bowel movement in the woods one day & they were grunting out big ones. The bear looked at the rabbit & said "Do you have a problem with crap sticking to your fur?"
The rabbit said "No."
So the bear snatched him up and wiped his butt with the rabbit.
<< <i>Why does everything always tast like chicken. If you ate a windshield wiper, I bet
you would lick your lips and say it tasted just like chicken.
........windshield wipers? i never thought of that hummmmmmm, maybe a little rice to go with it

<< <i>Big Doggy, trouble is ,you can never find a rabbit

Who said snakes are such bad people, Maybe Adrian lives in your back yard! I happily invite snakes into my back yard, they help to keep other types of critters down. (Not to mention making my wife jump up and run away, screaming when she see's them! Such free entertainment! LOL!)
And if it turns out that one or two do have venomous fangs, Well, as Russ suggested earlier in this thread, a little barbecueing can solve that problem! Although I'd add some fresh garlic to his recipe!
Aside from that, if you stopped to talk to them, some of those snakes might just be shaking baby rattles to scare off the bigger dogs! (no offense intended Dog!)
I hope tomorrow goes a lot better for you NumisEd! (or would that be later today?!)

The Southern California desert is know for... among other things - rattlesnakes.
It seems that in the company of others - our father was accosted by a particularly nasty little fellow about 5' in length.
As the story goes -- he snatched that puppy up by the tail, and gave him a "pop" (like a whip) - snapping his head clean-off.
They ate him for dinner.
Snakes?
Big deal.

<< <i>Man is inherantly good. >>
Cannot agree, man is born a sinner. Mans natural instincts are self centered self serving survival of the fittest. Man destroys everything he touches in the name of progress in an attempt to justify his belief that his comfort and selfish wants are more important than any other living thing in existance and they are only here to serve him. He has no respect for any living thing including his own race. He uses his intellegance and thrives on his ability to force all to serve him and the ones he cannot he destroys.
The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
I've eaten snake a few times, it tastes like fried batter with dip.
antique roadshow is fascinating to anyone who collects anything avidly.
