I'M TIRED OF THE SPAM!

E.G:

Hi, Upfront and honest; I am not a member of this site, or any other coin
site. I respond to message boards and go to other coin selling sites to sell my
Uncle's & Fathers coin collection. I have many coins including Barber Half's,
and Peace dollars, plus all the other denominations from 1835 to 1988. Non of
the coins and paper money is professionally grades, = non slabbed. No gold,
No Morgan CC. I do have many Morgan's & Peace some are VAM errors. All the
coins are from G4 thru ExFine. And I do have many that are below G4 for scrape.
If you want to know more, then Please tell me exactly what you want. I have
written many of these letters to people/collectors who are Fakers. I live in
central Connecticut. I have a PayPal account, or will accept a money order. Or
cash.

You have the option of disabling your e-mail address making it invisible to people viewing your profile.

Yes, Wayne that was an email and I believe the person obtained my email address from here (anyone else get it).

bohica268, my email address is there so people who use this forum can send me scans of coins I have requested, or contact me if they can't use the PM function. The question is, why do non-registered users of this site have access to it?

I agree with you 100% on this. Personally I am getting more and more feedup with spam (even though I haven't got much from coin guys). If there is something I didn't ask for these days I am likely to fire back a nasty email telling them where they can go! If I want to buy (anything, not just coins) from a dealer, I can go find that dealer - I don't need constant emails from people I've never done business with.

I also hope Carol will address this issue.

Not a good idea. When you do that, you've just confirmed that the address is good, and you get added to more lists.

My ISP (pdqnet.com) offers the Postini (www.postini.com) filter as a regular feature. This service HOLDS all emails and lets you CHOOSE which to APPROVE. I have several hundred every day that I just check "Select All" and delete. You can even (if you want to) READ the trash with no exposure to your computer. It also sees viruses and quarantines them BEFORE they get to my Norton.

If you get an email that you want, you just APPROVE it and it will not be stopped again.

I love it.

Several Hundred a day?!?! Wow, I guess I should feel lucky with my 5 or so a day. I am surprised that I don't get more considering my email addy is all over the place.

Even if PCCGS changed it to require a registered user, anyone could sign up with a bogus e-mail address and view your profile. If you're worried about it, best to just not post your e-mail and just PM it to those who need it.

I've had a big upsurge in spam over the last few months, now getting over 100 per day. Disgusting.

Spam has got way out hand as of late. I, myself, am getting over 100 per day

Currently I"m using CloudMark. It works quite well. Another thing, because my IP address is DHCP, I"M on a blacklist so that I cannot send legitimate email to either AOL or Earthlink users. I actually have to bounce off another email server for my own email to go through.

I am very frustrated with all of this spam.

I don't think the SPAMers really care if the addresses are good or not! They will fire off lists to all they can find. It sure shut up the email I got from Barbara Boxer (CA Senate Democrat) fast!!!!!

Actually they do care because they can sell a list of confirmed e-mail address for a higher price and more readily. Which means your address get in more spammers hands even more quickly.

It probably stopped Boxers e-mails because it doesn't look good for a politician if it becomes widely publicly known that they are a spammer. Think about it. There are a lot of internet savy voters out there who are already ticked off at spammers. No politician would want it brought to their attention that they are guilty of BEING one of the spammers. So you can bet they will actually pull the addresses that request it.
