Dirty lincoln

I just received this proof set in the mail and this Lincoln is a reall pretty red, but it has a black dot behind his head.
Is the a way to clean it? All other scratches are from the cello, not on the coin. Thanks for the help.

Carbon spot! NO you can't get rid of them. Anyway your not looking for RED proof lincoln's, your looking for Cameo proof lincolns!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

My experience with copper and the look of the spot lead me to say no. It looks like mild carbon spotting (mild in terms of depth, not size). Spots such as these are not really on the surface but lie beneath the field as well. Thus, even careful removal by whatever means, will leave a "pit" in the surface of the coin.
