I just got this coin in yesterday from Wondercoin. Thanks Mitch. If it weren't for the 2 hits on the bell near the eagle this coins would be an easy 67FBL. As it is, it is a PCGS 66FBL 58 D Frankie with superb eye appeal. These photos are the only 2 I had to take of the coin. No adjustments were made to any settings. The luster doesn't show true, it is very nice on the obverse, and as nice as ANY I have ever seen on the reverse. The Frankie has a simple, clean, bold design. Hits on the coin cannot be hidden easliy. I like it because they were still in circulation when I was a kid, as were WL half dollars. Iadded a 2nd photo with better light. Still can't seem to get that lustrousness that oozes from this coin.

Even for the folks who make fun of Frankies, I don't think this coin can be insulted... truly a great piece of eye candy... congrats!

the 57 and 58's have the best chance of toning a really nice rainbow color while sitting in their original double cardboard holders, this is a excellent example. A beautiful coin, nice buy!

While I have never seen Russ, I have heard his likeness to Ben is downright uncanny.

Mark: The funny thing about your scans on this coin is that as beautiful as they are, they truly do not capture the monster color on this coin!! For a Franklin, this is close to a "10" in color.

I would love to see you tilt the coin and run another scan of that obverse color, which, in person, is amazing!!

Frank: I have NEVER seen a 1948(d) Franklin in high grade with monster color - if anyone has a scan of one, I would LOVE to see that!

I'll give it another shot, and repost tomorrow. I really need to ask Shylock how in the world he captures the luster the way he does.
Maybe Russ can give me some pointers. Since luster is inevitably what makes or breaks a coin. Mark
