Anyone know how a coin gets a Cherrypicker number

I have a 1916 two feather buffalo nickel and am curious to know what the process is
before a coin gets a Cherrypicker number and is officially recognized as a variety.

Anyone else have any coins waiting for a number and in you opinion will this increase
the value or disirability of the coin?

    Instructions are in the CPG and the Posket Guide. Generally though, the variety is submitted to Bill Fivaz for consideration (verification that it isn't already numbered, and determination if it is a "worthy" candidate -- I believe availability, interest, etc. are the criterion).

    Generally, coins are submitted to JT Stanton for attribution. However, since he's been ill, it could take a year or two, at least in my experience. You may want to contact JT personally to see what the current circumstances are.

    By the way, I've already sumitted this coin for inclusion. I'm surprised it wasn't submitted before, since it is one of the more commonly encountered 2 feather varieties.
