    You wouldn't happen to know the criteria used to determine which patterns were sold and who was involved in the decision?

    Dave Bowers made the selections for the Bass family. I'd guess that his strategy was to select an interesting cross-section of patterns that (in a museum exhibit) would best illustrate the entire range of patterns.
