Jefferson experts? question on 1943/2 P

I was wondering if there are any Jefferson experts in the crowd.

I am curious for more information and/or close-up photos of the 1943/2 P nickel. How much of the 2 can
you actually see?

It almost looks to me on some that the lower serif of the 3 has a small die-break or something.

Why has PCGS graded 3 times as many of these than NGC?
Is there only 1 obverse die that caused these, or many?
Any estimates of minted popluation?

I wish I had a pic but I believe the bottom curl on the 3 has a "hook". Others may be able to be more specific and probably add a pic.

Thanks MadMarty - is that page from the Cherrypicker's Guide?

It clearly shows what I needed to see, and also confirms in the comments what I have occasionally saw.

FYI I have seen better 43/2 than the picture in the Cherrypickers Guide. The lower part of the 2 is completely visible on early die state coins.

I'd guess it's around 2 coins per thousand but it's harder to tell when lots of collectors are looking for them.
