1909-D Indian $5

Did a 1909-D Indian $5 gold coin ever come cheaply in MS 63? I was surprised to see the CU price guide list it at $1,200

I bought one a few years back and can't put my hands on how much I paid back then. I am pretty sure I would remember if I paid a grand for it! When was the last time a '09-D cost around $300?

I found my receipt. I bought this coin for around $850 in 2001. Man, my memory is going.... that is way more than I remembered.

I think I bought a 15-P in October 2000 for $925 so I'd guess that a 09-D would be slightly less....$850 or so (it's a more common date). The prices might even have come down a bit after that...I don't know. $1200 now? Wow, this series has gone up some...

Back in 1994 that same coin would sell for 1500.00 wholesale! They are or was a bargain at the 850.00 level.
