Maybe he liked the coin so much, he wanted to buy it twice

Looking at his bidding history you can tell he's a big fan of one particular seller....

and i was about to snipe it, too. instead, another seller crossed off the"maybe buy from" list.

  • That's pretty good - he won the same coin twice!!! image

wow, that's pretty incriminating. does eBay investigate these things, or is it up to us outside detectives ?? (who don't really go looking for it, just notice it when we're shopping)

  • But the questions hould be, did he get it for a good priceimage

Done, but I was almost tempted to let this one go since it was way too easy to prove (how stupid do you have to be to put the same coin up for auction in less than a month?). If this guy gets NARU'd, we should see the results in a day or two. image

  • I guess he found a coin he likes so much he just can't keep from buying it over and over and over.

Looking at his bidding history you can tell he's a big fan of one particular seller....

He is doing what all smart collectors do, find a dealer you can trust and buy only from him.

wow, that's pretty incriminating. does eBay investigate these things, or is it up to us outside detectives ??

Ebay guarantees that it will never take more then 22 years to complete an investigation so if someone reports we are assured of knowing the outcome by 2025.

I think you guys have it all wrong - prober57 just likes rickscoins4271, check out what he has bid on ->

  • Here is the seller's response to my question as to whether it was a shell bid:

Howe [sic] about when a coin is RETURNED and then the coin is relisted.
Sorry, not everyone is bright enough not to bid on the same piece twice.
I also will be relisting an 1882 S Morgan in MS-67 that I was STIFFED on
by "--------" and a 1923 Peace Dollar in MS-66 that I also was stiffed
on....... and the list goes on.....approximately 5 % of all coins are
either NOT paid for or are returned for one reason or another. Your
"answer" just is not fair and does not ring true just because you say
    so.

    "and the list goes on....."

Sure does. The IDs, that is.

His explanation might be a bit more credible if the "returned" coin hadn't been won the second time by the "returnee".image
