Just got back from the show.

Just got back from the Racine show, I had a blast! Its was nicer than the show they had a few months ago because there was room to move around and more slabs. I bought a PCGS 1922 peace $ in MS-64, a PCGS 1882-S morgan $ in MS-65 and a PCGS Frankie from 1961 in MS-64. It was great but it is to bad they didnt have much slabbed gold.

  • Did you see any nice toned roosies? What do you think was the "hot" item at this show?

I was expecting you to come back with a nice Indian $2.5 in 55 or 58 at about $200 or a bit less. There are usually a few available at the small shows I get to. Sounds like you got some good stuff anyway. Time to start building the warchest again.

GTOster I don't know why but it seems at coin shows dealers always want the moon for their moderns. Just got back from the El Paso show and all the moderns were way, way more than you can buy them from board members or ebay. I just think most of those guys just don't know the market.

El Paso show was pretty good. There were people selling coins, toys, military, fossils and watches. At first I didn't think I was going to buy anything but by the time I was ready to go home I had spent all my money. Also lots of public there.

I did mess up by not buying a 1921 Quarter graded PCGS MS-64 for $950. MS-64 bid is $850 and MS-65 bid is only $1,150 so I didn't think I could make anything on it. The catch was the coin was really nice and the head was strong. After thinking about it I decided it would have been one of those coins that I wouldn't care if it never sold. It would have been nice just to own. When I went back to buy it it was gone.

    Sounds fun.
My son & I will be at the Biloxi show next weekend.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • You picked up some nice coins today.

I picked up two new commemoratives at the same show, a MS64 California and a MS64 Huguent, both are very nice brilliant coins. I must of looked at dozens and dozens of commemoratives before I settled on these two.

I was looking for some nice gold coins as well but couldn't really find anything that was worth the price.

I was there early with my son, and I went back later alone. I picked up a nice 1931-S Merc in 65, and a raw 1926 (about 63FB). I started a thread in the registy. Anyway I was a nice show with lots of nice stuff. I was keeping an eye out for a fellow member, but didn't see 'em.

  • I went to the show in Racine as well. Was there at 9:30 when they opened. It was busy. They had basically nothing toned. I bought the Morgan that is in another thread. I did not see many slabbed items. Lots of raw coins. I plan to go to the Madison one in March, hopefully more toned coins there.

  • The cheaper stuff was the stuff that was really selling also some of the 1700's type coins. I notices some toned movement and did see a couple nice morgans with cool toning. Most of the gold was raw and that wasnt selling to great.

Ames, Iowa coin club had their annual show this weekend. Kinda dead today. Scored a nice pretty album toned 1885-O PCGS MS65 Morgan green label and a pretty gold toned 1904 Morgan NGC MS63. Had my eye on a nice 92-CC PCGS63 PQ and when I went back to get it today it was gone. Lotsa raw coins and most of the slabbed stuff was common. Not much to pick from for really nice stuff tho.

  • Let there be pics!
Peace $ It has a red and green toning on the botton of the obv and gold on the upper part. The rev has a blue streak that goes from the top over the eagle to about 3/4 of the way down the coin.
Morgan $ Blast white and PQ!

  • A nice toned peace dollar those are hard to come by, i've had my eye out for one but whenever i see one the dealer is asking moon money for it.

Well you've got my Toned Peace seal of approval, as if it means anything. Nice grab. Especially if you didn't pay "moon" money. Is it a possible upgrade? Then it for sure would be worth "moon" money.

I especially like the variation between obverse and reverse in toning and color. Thats unusual.

  • Was only $30 dollars so I didnt pay moon money.

Wow! You got the color for free! I just sniped a 34-D MS63 with supposed pink translucent toning off Ebay for greysheet. Gotta love when you get the color for gratis. Good job! I'll give you $60 for it imageimage
