1927 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Planchet issue or Details?

ProofCollectionProofCollection Posts: 8,138 ✭✭✭✭✭

Was just examining this 1927 Wheat cent I bought 14 years ago and deciding what to do with it. It's got this spot in the field that Lincoln is staring at. Can anyone here determine if this is PMD or just an issue with the planchet? I hope the photos are sufficient.

If there was damage, it would have been noted in the description.
Fingerprints are not considered damage so it was not noted.

That's not an accurate statement. All TPGs will slab coins with minor problems. A good number of the CAC sticker rejects are rejected due to damage or other issues that PCGS or NGC overlooked or didn't care about.

Just your typical 65 - if it wasn't for that spot it may have could made a 66 - it is what it is.

Just some sort of PMD rub? Not a flaw.
