Paul Householder?
A gembryo is the early developmental stage of a perfect card.
ElMagoStrikeZone, I considered the possibility of Householder, but I just don't see a strong enough resemblance. Maybe it is, and the angle of the photo is altering his appearance.
Any other suggestions out there?
Brett, Any idea when the photo was taken? I matched it up with an image from 1984 on his Fleer baseball card. Same jersey.

I assume that it was taken between 1984 and 1989.
ElMagoStrikeZone, I took a look at the 1984 Fleer card and I think you may be right. The shape of the eyes and eyebrows are very similar, as well as the creasing at the corners of the mouth. The lips in the unidentified photo appear to be fuller than those of Householder in his cards, but that could be a result of his expressionless pose.
You may be onto something. Thanks for digging.

Adam, you may be correct. Bates, like Householder, is another possibility I had considered. However, I couldn't find any photos of him clean-shaven to compare. After a bit more searching, I did find some in a Reds uniform, no moustache. It looks like him.
