Should the Presidential dollar album be only for deceased Presidents?

I hate going first. Yes.

Only deceased presidents are part of the Presidential Dollar series.
Where's Carter?

It should be for coins that were authorized by the Presidential Dollars legislation. That legislation required the former President to be dead for at least two years before a coin could be minted.
I can only assume you are asking about the Trump $1 coins. Those were supposedly struck under the legislation authorizing $1 coins with designs "emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial." Scott Bessent, the Secretary of Treasury who oversees the Mint, thought that an image of Trump with the Presidential Seal was "emblematic" of the anniversary and struck them. To the extent these are included, it would fall within the semiquincentennial coinage.
There's my answer. Maybe Carter wasn't deceased for two years at the printing of this album.

Might be made before his death
Former President Jimmy Carter passed away on December 29, 2024. Under the presidential dollar legislation, no coin would be authorized until the end of this year. There will likely be a 2027 coin.
the 2026 dollar featuring the president is not part of the presidential dollar series under the authorizing legislation
this would not ever go in a album for that series, and it is distasteful to pose the question as done
I agree 100% with the first sentence. I don't agree, however, that the question is distasteful. I think it is a legitimate question.
Congress clearly expressed its preference that coins honoring the presidents only do so once their dead. That's why there is a two year waiting period included in the statute. Secretary Bessent exploited a loop hole in legislation meant for commemorative coins to strike one of the current president for the semiquincentennial. It begs the question, what do we call it? I tend to side with you it should be based on citation of the legislation allegedly providing authorization for the coin.
This. The current coin with some President on it is a semiquincentennial commemorative.
Thank You very well put.
I'm all in for the dollar coin in question, but it is a one off. It would not be part of the presidential dollar set, that started in 2007, there will likely be, in time, two Trump dollar coins for 45 and 47, that will be part of that set, as well as others. That said that particular album is titled as a type set, so I would think the current dollar coin would belong in it.
I'm sorry it was not meant to be DISTASTFUL it was ONLY a question,
ok. it read like a dark tone.
even after death, this still isn't part of the presidential dollar coins issued under that area of the statutes
Given that two coins will eventually be made to recognize terms #45 and #47, I wonder if they will be released in the same year or split out.

this is a good question
The original series had four coins issued per year, in sequence. Both of Grover Cleveland's coins were issued in 2012.
For coins issued after the original series concluded, they have been issued when the late president met the qualifications. So, one day I would expect 45 and 47 to be issued at the same time.
