Disparity between 9/11 Half and Quarter 7/4 Privy?
I've been watching the market on these for a while and it's interesting. My understanding was that both have roughly a 250k mintage in total?
The halves seem to have been more evenly distributed and I've seen them moving for around $40-60 range.
The July 4th privy quarter still seems to be holding around $120 range in sales.
With both carrying the same mintage, wouldn't we expect roughly a similar market price?
Was poor distribution on the quarters pushing the market?

Demand (for whatever reason) is usually the driver.
Could the reason for the price disparity be because of the additional supply of the Mint sold version of the 9/11 privy Halves?
Quarters are actually used in commerce. Halves rarely so.
So many of the new quarter boxes w/ the July 4th privy coins didn't go to collectors. The went to Wal-Marts, local grocery stores, etc. and were put in real circulation. Not all were immediately found. By the time they are found, many will no longer be in mint state condition.
The halves don't really circulate. The people that get half dollar boxes are collectors and most of the 250k privy marked coins will be found by collectors that know what they are and will be preserved in mint state condition.
That's most of the reason for the price difference. Demand also plays a part. Probably more demand for the July 4th quarter as it was better advertised to the average collector. The half dollar also has another privy available through the Mint website which seems to have confused some collectors who don't realize there are two different halves to acquire.
