gratuitous (worthless?) advice from someone who will be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future:

don't ever look at a game and get overly confident about it. this is so cliche, but from my personal betting experiences it's more apparent now than ever before: anything can happen.

yesterday i was attempting to make some magic happen with a wad of "free" money i won in a contest, and i made the ill-advised decision to park it on the double-digit favorite Texans. if there was someone out there who thought that the Giants -- led by JJ McCarthy -- were going to waltz into Houston and take out the suddenly revitalized Texans, i missed it. moreover, if someone was able to break that game down and drop some of their hard-earned money on New York to emerge victorious, then by all means that person(s) should continue to gamble. i personally didn't see it coming.

but after watching one half of the first quarter, i saw it coming.

it was crystal clear to me that not only were those two teams on a level playing field, but the Giants were arguably better. McCarthy was playing at a level i didn't think he was capable of, and dare i say the Giants had a better defense. people -- yours truly included -- seem to be banking on the 2025 version of the Houston Texans defense in 2026, and that's a great way to lose money. that unit is a far cry from the one that took the field last season. one half of one quarter and i knew the 10 1/2 point spread was a crock of shit. i literally held my nuts for 3 1/2 quarters + OT hoping that a team i no longer had any faith in could somehow, someway exit that game with a victory.

    didn't happen.

again i must reiterate this: anything can happen. the preseason SB favorite Rams lost to Arizona at home two weeks ago. it was at that point i told myself, i need to distance myself from these games. i was briefly given a new lease on life, then i was quickly reminded of that yet again after witnessing Texans-Giants yesterday.

hope you boys kill it 🤜 🤛

As soon as I looked at the college scores and saw my opponent hit the score board for 7 early in the first quarter I knew right then and there my bets were toast and they were

Tom Brady was selected in the 6th round (199th overall)
Tanner McKee was selected in the 6th round (188th overall)

    Not exact, but close. LOL

Fanatics is doing a promo where you opt in via their sportsbook app, but then you're required to place your bet in person at a retail location to earn the rewards. Luckily, I live roughly 15 minutes from the retail location.

Place a wager up to $100 on an NBA parlay of 3+ legs and minimum of +300 odds. Once the bet settles, win or lose, you'll receive $100 in Fan Cash. You can use that to place bets, purchase profit boosts, or apply towards your purchase of Fanatics merchandise. It's essentially a free roll.

I can play the promo twice to earn a maximum of $200 in Fan Cash. This is my bet for tonight. I'll play again either Wednesday or Friday.

I lost my 5 leg NBA parlay of moneyline bets, as well as the Philadelphia Eagles SGP.

But I also used a 50% SGP profit boost on the Nuggets/Warriors game, intending to play the cashout game. However, the Warriors spanked the Nuggets, and I never really ever considered cashing out. Won the full payout.

That kicking prop is interesting. Not sure if I've seen that prop offered on my book?

Three Eagles TD's and they can't get that prop for ya, to at least win the one parlay. In retrospect, would have been better off if one of those Eagles TD's didn't happen, and instead was a FG.

Just received a flood of profit boosts. Dam book can't stand it when I take some money off them. LOL

Psst, wanna make an easy, sure thing 2k?

And no, I don't have 100k in my account, not even 1k. But it let's you
punch in almost any size wager to see what it would pay.

Those type of bets happen all the time and they are great to look at but we both know that when that one loss happens which it always does eventually it will take a million to make back that 100k

In this series it's highly unlikely that type of bet would lose but for a single game it's madness, I suppose to get some adrenaline a person with that kind of money probably gets a tickle of action though

I'm thinking about tickling the Rays ML tonight, maybe a ten spot. The Rays are a dog at home, so perhaps some value there and for a number of other reasons. The problem is the Brewers are playing like a machine right now.

Haven't looked at the specific boosts yet. Unless a fat boost is offered on this game, I'll just let it go. Especially considering my MLB results this past season have not been good.

    Google AI:

"Teams that take a 3-0 lead in the World Series are 25-0 all-time, with 21 of those teams winning in a 4-game sweep and 4 teams winning in 5 games."

I'm gonna pass on this game. GL if anyone plays it. Besides, the book was only offering a meager profit boost, and only on a parlay. So *em if they can't offer something better than that.

The Rams are historically a team I try to stay away from and do not trust them ever

I still remember back in 2020 the Rams were 14.5 favorites against the Jets when they were the worst team in the NFL and the Rams managed to lose the game outright and give the Jets their only win that season

I can't see how this loses. Plus I figure it may increase profit boosts on future wagers.

Worst case scenario, it loses but the book currently has a 5% cash back on losing bets up to a max of $10. So if it loses, I'll just have to place the $10 on a 50-1 shot to get even. LOL

30% SGP boost. Perfect for another cashout try. If the Bulls get up by 20, it marks that leg as a win, even if the Knicks come back. Games on back to back nights, as the Champs taking the Bulls best shot, I can see the Knicks getting down early before storming back. We'll see. I'll be ready to cash a decent offer for profit.

Yeah, and the whole strategy isn't necessarily to put together a winning bet, although that is the simplest outcome. You have to figure if the Bulls are going to win outright, they're going to need at least 50 points from these guys... Even if they're going to only make a close game of it.

I could throw some Knicks stuff in there to really boost it up the odds, but I've been burned badly on that before. All I'd need is for KAT to go 1-13 for 4 points in a bad Knicks loss and screw me royally. So you weigh the risk with the return.

I'm looking at the cashout game. If the score is say 30-21 Bulls at the end of the first, and all 5 guys are say roughly halfway there to their points, you're likely looking at a $75+ offer to cash.

Sometimes, the Knicks moneyline flips on another book in that instance with them trailing, and then you can hop on, say +180 for $50 to win $90. So you'd be covered on the Bulls parlay bet if the Knicks win outright, and as long as the Bulls players hit their easily makeable stats, you're golden no matter what.

Or the Knicks could come out and blow their doors off and be up 30 the whole game and your $30 Bulls parlay is trash.

KAT is always a potential nightmare, he has screwed me hard on a blue collar 25 point, rebound and assist total, Brunson is not much better, especially with Three pointers, he is money in playoffs but the other night I think he was 0-6 and I needed just 1

Exactly... Knicks players have screwed me like that many times.

One more thing... if the Bulls players hit their marks, hopefully in the first half (the earlier the better) or before the outcome of decided, then you're just riding the Bulls moneyline at +1000. You can always hop on the Knicks moneyline, even at -500 or whatever if they're winning, and turn a profit. The player marks are the key.

And you may already know all of this, but some of the more novice bettors reading may not have ever looked at it like that.

I'll be a bit surprised if the Brewers don't wrap it up tonight. But if not, they've still of course got two games left at home.

The Rays simply aren't good enough to overcome all that. Ain't gonna happen. Not even close.

Brewers fans can plan the parade, only a question of which day.

I fumbled the bag, a bit. I could've cashed out my Bulls bet for $191, a nice $161 profit. I was waiting around for Caleb Wilson to get his 15... and waiting... and waiting... all while the Knicks were making a run. My cashout offer went down, so I hopped on the Knicks moneyline to win $50, covering the $30 on the Bulls SGP, winning $20 on the night on that game. Oh, what could've been...
