Coin Show NEWPS 10/25/2026 (Probably my best show!)

Went to a show and got a few nice coins, a bit lower in grade than I go for unfortunately, BUT that gave leeway for me to get a coin I’ve wanted for a while: a Trade dollar!

NOTE: Found out the Trade dollar has a TV!

I don't usually focus on registry sets but the Trade dollar seems to have not been taken out of a person's registry set before they sold/bought the coin..!

That isn't so unusual. The folks on the registry forum have been complaining about this as well. PCGS has a process where you can let them know you have the coin and I think the old rule was they gave the previous owner three-days to release the coin before PCGS was supposed to release it for you, but you might have to supply them with a current image of the coin in the slab.

It's a little bit of a hassle, but should work out well, as least it has for me in the past and I never had to send PCGS a current image. Good luck.

I must have owned that Trade dollar when I was accumulating them for my books' studies. It is registered at the SSDC Registry as C-12.1. It is possible that I submitted it raw. But have thousands of them, it is hard to remember.

    That's quite a coincidence!!
To help jog your memory, I checked the surrounding coins, it was seemingly submitted with 3 other coins, an 1876-S (XF details) and two 1882-CC Morgans (both MS63). Does that sound familiar?

Thank you! It's probably about as good as I can get with a phone camera

Your 1834 doesn't look cleaned enough to warrant that designation. On the other hand, it is closer to VF35 than XF40.
    Neat coin regardless.
