Poll: How should this 2026 Draped Bust Silver Medal be holdered?

ProofCollectionProofCollection Posts: 8,138 ✭✭✭✭✭

PCGS owes me a reholder on this for getting the sticker upside down. Seriously, I'm not sure why they call the final step "QA" when such basic fails continue to get by them. I've had 3 holdering issues in the past 2 weeks.
To define terms, the obverse is the Liberty side portrait, the reverse is the Sun & Earth. The "label front" is the side with the coin data, the "label back" is the side with the 250th logo.

Was wondering how everyone thinks these "should" be holdered and if PCGS has a published standard for what to expect if you don't specify anything?

Here's how I received it:

Appears to have many milk spots on both sides. May want to consider a guarantee submission instead to get it accurately graded a 69, or just let pcgs buy it back and move on?

The paper labels appear to be set up to accommodate coin-turn items, but of course this is a medal-turn item. PCGS would have to reconfigure their printing, which they should do, if this is the case.

I've now had some time to look for other examples and it does appear that PCGS has placed one piece of paper in backwards-

Easy answer. It should be holdered by a company that cares about its clients, its product, and its reputation. Like this:

Label on top of slab, Obverse on side with label front

It looks normal. The 250th side of the label is the obverse side, and that is correctly aligned with the obverse of the coin. Silver eagles are commonly holdered in this position. It just happens that this medal is in medal alignment, and the label is now upside down in relation to the coin. I would suggest asking for a non-commemorative boring label so that the grade can be correctly aligned to the obverse side of the medal.

I thought they don't guarantee milk spots.

I think those are just reflections
