Fivaz-Stanton (FS) Variety Question: None attributed as of this date. Would you send it in?

I don't want to give too much information away, but I have an opportunity to have an unattributed Fivaz-Stanton (FS) Variety verified which will make 1/0 across PCGS, CACG or NGC. It is presently house in a PCGS holder. Since there are none attributed, this would make a unique opportunity. My question is...would you send it in or let it be? No, it is not a Major Variety listed in the Red Book, but some people, like myself, like the unusual varieties.
What are your thoughts?

Where you send it depends on how much you want to spend to put an attribution on the coin and whether or not you need the attribution to be under the plastic.

It has been mentioned previously about having an attribution added to the back of the slab through a couple of different services, VSS comes to mind, which I have used previously. But, I have tried to sell to dealers a variety with such attribution, on the backside of the slab, and they would not offer anything above a normal coin without the info variety on the information insert.

Send it in. The only one certified of an FS- variety is often very valuable. You just have to find an interested buyer.

I guess it would depend on the variety, right? If none have been attributed, that would suggest it is rare. Conversely, it might mean that it is considered too insignificant to slab based on the fees. I tend to think that if it is a Cherrypicker number, the juice will be worth the squeeze. You can always go cheap and send to ANACS.

If you're confident of the variety, send it in for attribution. I would spring for the TPG attribution so that the coin appeals to the registry set crowd. Needless to say, a TPG attribution is not always correct, so you have to keep on your toes.
If it were my coin and I were selling it, I would either send it to auction or list it on an online venue for a set price.
If you're not confident of the variety, get a second opinion before you submit. It is also worth mentioning that there are errors in the CPG.
If there are currently no examples in the current pops, and this is a popular series, then it would seem logical that the demand is not there. Additionally, if there is no registry slot for this there will not be any significant registry participant demand, which could suppress the price. As you did not give very much in the way of details or any information about your plans for the coin, keep or sell, all you are going to get is what any individual might do. As I have very little interest in varieties of any type/kind, and you state that it is not a major variety, I personally would not spend the monies to have this reholdered.

I just looked up the PCGS Complete Variety Set for the series and no one has a complete 100% set, and this variety is listed in the set.
Thank you for both sides of the coin responses, pro/con.

Okay, just a follow-up and some clarification for me. I'm a little slow.
A few question:
You say it's unattributed. If it has an FS number, it's already been attributed. I'm assuming you got that FS number from the Cherrypicker's Guide (CPG), correct?
You're saying one has never been slabbed with an FS number on the label, correct?
You want it "recognized" by a TPG'er with an FS number, correct?
You say the coin is not a major variety. Do you know if this variety has been published anywhere else?..CoinWorld, Coinweek, etc.. If not, you might need more proof of other publications or recognition of this coin besides the CPG before a TPG'er slabs it with the FS number.
Is your goal to get the FS number on the slab label? Is this coin listed in NGC's VP?
I had a coin I wanted listed in NGC's VP. Even though I had an FS number assigned to the coin, (the late) Dave Lange wouldn't list it until I could provide additional documented history or publications on the coin. So I submitted articles to several coin magazines and had the coin published. After that all four TPG'ers recognized the coin.
The Pick Up Point is very obvious.

The TPG'ers apparently don't believe it's a significant variety to put this FS number on the label or don't recognize the variety at all. If that's the case, your variety needs more face time! Another words, more recognition. Is your Variety listed in Variety Visa or Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties?
Is the picture in the CPG a good one or is your coin better?
I Just checked Variety Vista and Wexler's, neither have the variety, at least I did not see it.
The CPG image is ok, identifiable, but mine is clearer. It's coming full circle very soon!
@messydesk having it looked at by another variety attribution service could add prominence, as another set of eyes with documentation, when I do send it in to our host.

I can't even count the times I thought I found a rare variety and got a normal coin sold with a crappy, shaky picture. I hope you do better.
If you're confident the variety will be attributed, yes, get it in a holder that has the variety attributed. If it turns into a pop 1/0, I'd imagine you'd be able to sell it for enough to make the cost 'worth it'.
I _think _you can get a PCGS slab reholdered with the same grade and also have the variety added (although last time I tried that they didn't attribute the variety (and they were incorrect, in my opinion)).
For one of the newly listed CPG varieties, I was able to turn an unattributed NGC coin into a PCGS variety holder of pop 1 (or maybe it was pop 2).
It turned a ~$50 proof Franklin half into a ~$200 coin. Not a huge gain, but it was also fun to create a low pop variety.
You want it in hand? We thought you had it. Where is it?
Ive been making payments on it and finally paid it off. It should be on its way out the door.

WoW!! Making payments on it? It must be a significant variety. Can't wait for the big reveal and helping you to get the TPG'ers to list and recognize the attribution number on the slab labels,
I have quite a bit of supporting documentation, mainly large, clear images of the PUP to go along with the submission.

I don't have a lot in my "slush fund" for coins, so it took a little bit of time to bail her out.
