eBay Authenticity Guarantee for Cards - Shipping to NJ

Just noticed that my most recent eBay order was shipped to Jersey City, NJ for Authentication (also shipping to PSA Vault after review) . Up until now they were shipped from the seller to Santa Ana, CA for Authentication. I'm hoping this is a permanent change because it might shave a few days off the process of Seller --> Authentication --> PSA Vault. Anyone else notice the change of location for the Authentication?

My last, 2 weeks ago, was sent to Santa Ana.

If they are up to speed staff and process-wise in Jersey then it's very good news for those on entire East Coast at least who do not use the vault. Probably will shave 2-4 days off if both seller and buyer both on that coast.

I noticed both last week and this week that I had multiple sold items going to the NJ office as well as some addressed to the CA office. It looks like the authentication stage location is assigned relative to its proximity to where the buyer's subsequent shipping address is.

They have been sending many cards to Jersey City over the last few weeks. As a New Yawker, I have noticed that they are indeed coming back to me much faster now.

I just sent one out today for authentication to NJ then to PSA Vault. It's been a while since my last one was mailed to an authenticator, so not sure when the change happened.

Makes sense to have the authentication of vault items to be closer to the vault.

I'm wondering now if the change to shipping to NJ is related to the recent FedEx Robbery. My eBay order happened to be shipped on 10/14.

Hey guys, please advise if there’s anything I can do. I just got my first result on a NJ authentication… and it didn’t pass. This is a thick manufactured memorabilia card. I will attach the photo of what they said.. but I guess this dolt is alleging I switched out a patch on a card that is all manufactured patches that are sweet already? This card was pulled by me and put directly into a toploader. I’ve had a bigger card from same exact set and insert go through eBay CA PSA no problem. Any recourse here? I’m so annoyed that these guys obviously don’t know this issue if they’re alleging the card is altered. Any advice?

ETA: the buyer thinks it’s maybe just the condition not meeting NM, but why put the gasp-worthy word “altered” in there if so. Anyone have this happen?

this has not been my experience, though i wish it were. I just sold an item and it shipped from maine to santa ana and will ship back to georgia to the buyer.

seems weird that if they have an authentication center in jersey that they would have me ship it all the way across the country instead of a pit stop along the way...

Porkins - what a frustrating situation. I would be ticked off too. You pulled the card and PSA thinks it's altered, incredible. Unfortunately I have no really good guidance for you, but I would be calling whatever phone number I have to talk to someone.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

does anyone know if different types of cards are authenticated either in CA. or NJ?

there must be some sort of method to this.
