Hi guys,
Those of you who remembered my buy, a Proof Franklin variety, the 1956 Type 1.

$40

Well, a shocker!i
Here's the First shocker.

Nobody,
I mean Nobody, including myself, thought of this!
Not me, not my dealer friend, not anybody I showed the coin to at the Show, I'm pretty sure, not even the seller?, not anyone, including all of you guys! Lol
That's the real shocker!
The 2nd shocker...
Here it is.
When I brought the coin to a Jewelry shop, I never been to, to sell for melt.
He showed me this!

Ready?

Yep!
It's

MAGNETIC!

NOT SILVER!

A FAKE!

😆
I can't believe nobody but the Jeweler caught this!
😆
Oh well, I'm going to try to contact the seller but he's from out of town, Iowa.
I live in Chicago.
Crazy, never would of thunked it!
And obviously, no one else too.
Wow!
I'm gonna weigh it next...

Strange???
The weight is nearly spot on!

Do you have a photo of it suspended in the air by the magnet alone?

Which is why I carry a small hard drive magnet all the time. Hope you can get squared up with the vendor. Peace Roy

Here's a Canadian quarter similarly suspended.

    The quarter is not magnetic.

The texture or the surface of the coin just didn't look right to me. Or maybe it was the light or the angle of your pictures.

In all cases the coin is either balanced and would stand without the magnet or is pinned against something magnetic (i.e. the coin is not magnetic but the stuff behind is).

Put the magnet onto a metal post. Then put the coin on the outside of the magnet and take a photo.

It is just swapping the order shown in your photo.

Then why are you including a magnet in your photos? If the coin is magnetized, it'll stick on its own.

I agree but I think he means the coin is metal and a magnet sticks to it.

Just hold the coin by the edge perpendicular to the floor (i.e., facing away from you, not parallel to the floor) and try to stick the magnet to it. The magnet will just fall off if it's not magnetic.

Whenever I check any scrap/coin/medal/jewelry for gold or silver, there is never any other metal item involved? First quick test I do is to pass my rare earth magnet over the item, if it is attracted to the items then is 99% not gold/silver. Why are you involving a lamp, a paper clip and leaning the coin against them?

I'm not leaning the coin against it, it's the magnet, making the coin appear like this!
The paper clip to show it too, is attracted to the magnet!
The lamp I use for "light!"
Other than the magnet on the base of the lamp, with the Coin.

You're making it more complicated than it has to be. Stick the magnet to the coin. Pick up the coin + magnet, holding only the coin. Take a picture.

A simple question.....what's holding the coin to the lamp post?

The magnet. Just like the magnet in my picture is holding the coin to the lamp.

I think it is likely a genuine silver coin, but polished and plated with pure nickel (which is magnetic).

    .

    Thanks for your concern.
    :)
However, would it still weigh normal?
    Like it does.

Maybe a fraction higher. Plating doesn't add that much weight.
