What kind of crap is that?? A game ending in a tie!?!?! A tie in any American game is UnAmerican!!
Such BS!!! Do the players have to be somewhere?? Wouldn't want to be late for dinner!! What's the justification they can't keep playing till someone wins???

The facts are they could give these idiots all the time in the world and some how some way neither team would ever win, if they can't score then let them kiss their sister
Screw 'em, let them play for nothing but a tie
I just don't get it. I can understand this crap happening in Europe with stupid Soccer!! 250K fans in the stadium watching, millions maybe billions watching around the world on TV in a critical game....................................and it ends in a TIE!?!?!?!?! Are you freakin' kidding me????

What stadium has 250k fans? The only game that gets billions of people watching is the mens World Cup final.
You dont want ties in the NFL do what college does or do a hybrid. No game clock both teams get the ball who ever is winning after both teams had the ball wins, if its still tied next score wins.
Or just win the game in regulation and you dont have to worry about the rules of OT

Football is a brutal game. Dog tired players could easily get injured with too much overtime.
In my view, the best solution for no ties, is let the kickers decide it. After all, the game is called football.
Place the ball starting at say the 40, no snap, with a player holder. If both kickers get it thru the uprights, then move the ball to the 45, etc.
Frankly, they should just automatically do this after a tie game in regulation. Would add some very interesting drama, and a ton of wagering.
Stupid idea.

i can see it now
i've got a 50-yarder for 500 bucks
Obviously you never played football. It ain't soccer my friend. LOL
Now that's a good idea. the game transitions to soccer.
I say get the biggest and stronges player from each team and put them in the "Squared Circle" instead of overtime playing - winner takes all! The football fans would llove it!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Just let the QB’s square off to see who can throw the most footballs into a giant can of Dr. Pepper
If were going to turn it into a Savanna Bananas overtime at least make them snap it.
As much as I dislike the rule changes if ties are to be eliminated college rules are the best way to go. The old ones were better when LSU and A&M went to 7 OTs and was like 74*72 final score which was electric, but Id rather see teams trading 2 point conversions in the 3rd OT than whose kicker has the better leg

You’re correct, the NFL ain’t soccer. That’s why using “free kicks” to decide the winner is a stupid idea.

You're right but you get my point!

The fans should vote the winner in a tie. But not by poll. They have to cheer loudest while the barker holds hand to ear.
Soccer fans are crazy throwing lit road flares at each other and South Americans stabbing refs and beheading them and killing players, but fans from all over the world were blown away by the size of the stadiums in the USA especially the college ones

This is such a terrible idea. It should be punters kicking from the 50. Closest to the goal line wins
I would start with the field goal kicker standing exactly at the 50 yard line, center of field. No football. An opposing player starts in one of the end zones and takes off after the kicker. The kicker can run anywhere as long as he stays inbounds. There is an official clock and whichever kicker takes the longest to get tackled wins the game for his team.
